Distinctiveness of KKSU

Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University has many distinct features among Sanskrit Universities in the country. This Univerity which is established in Ramtek where great poet Kavi Kalidas is believed to have composed his world famous poem Meghasandesha. The university in its vision and mission statements clearly defines its areas, functions and research focus.

Sanskrit for All

While having entire Maharashtra state as its jurisdiction, the university is catering education in many modern disciplines like Yoga, Public Administration, Computer Applications, Library Science, Social work, Education, Hospitality Management, Fine Arts, Performing Arts and so on. All these modern programs will have content from Ancient Indic Wisdom along with 20% content from Sanskrit Directly. Apart from this the university is offering more than 50 certificate and diploma courses in various subjects including naturopathy, Panchakrma, Vastuvidya etc with a blended subjects to suit for contemporary skilling programs.

Sanskrit for Future

The University is marching towards making the Sanskrit consent available to modern fields of studies and disciplines. In this aspects the university is engaging with other modern universities. A number of Memorandum of Understanding and Agreements are signed. KKSU and Maharashtra Law university tighter offering a certificate program in Shastric Methodology of argumentation in for modern lawyers and legal practitioners. Apart from this, we are exploring possibilities in many fields like Computational Linguistics, Yoga Therapy, Vastuvidya and Architecture etc. This will create a road map for Sanskrit development with future aspirations of education in the nation. In this direction, our university has already started PG programs : MA in Multidisciplinary Sanskrit, MA in Jyotish and Astronomy, M.Sc. in Yogic Science in Its new Campus at Waranga near Nagpur. These programs will open up new avenues for Sanskrit studies involving many modern areas of studies.

Tradition for Innovation : Sri Golvalka Guruji Gurukulam at Ramtek

The university however has always focused on the core study of area of the university i.e., Sanskrit Literature, Veda, Vyakarana, Vedanga Jyotisham, Darshana, Yoga Shastra and Education in the campus. Traditional UG and PG programs offered in Ramtek residential campus apart from modern Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary programs in its Nagpur city campus, the university has gained reputation in attracting good number students in core study areas. The university departments offer M.Phil. and Ph.D. research programs also in respective fields while giving prominence to Interdisciplinary research in a regular mode. The university encourages student by providing monthly scholarship Rs. 5000 and 3000 respectively in Ph.D. and M.Phil. The university also encourages students to pursue traditional Shastric studies by proving scholarship to all its Gurukul Students monthly upto Rs. 1000.

Making Self – Sufficient Institution

The university has taken up many steps to make the university self sufficient in many aspects. In order to generate financial resources, it has increased its width of the academic services across the state. The university depts. like Yoga and Jyotish offer program with full self finance mode. With this the departments are able to support their faculty salaries in complete capacity. Besides this university has entered into Dual education system by offering programs un Open and Distance Mode. For this process has been initiated to seek the permission from UGC. In order to take the Sanskrit education in global level.

Connect with the Society

The universities can not function isolated. In order to connect with the society, the university has used its Directorate of Vistara Seva Mandal and Outreach Programs. Under VSM, the university supports non-formal education and establishes connection with the local NGOs and other institutions which are working for the similar causes. Veda Pathashalas and such traditional institutions are recognized and given opportunity to work with the university system. Many workshops, short term programs are conducted. The consultancy services are also facilitated under this directorate. The Directorate of Outreach programs with take of needs of local surrounding area of the university. Two schools are adopted and supported under the concept of social responsibility of the university. Many skill enhancement programs and workshops to support local poor and needy people. On the eve of Gandhi 150 year a new innovative diploma program is initiated for poor students towards their employment with the industry linkages.

Towards transparent and faster administration through Automation

The university administration has grown to five fold in last two years. The students strength has got doubled. Number faculties and departments increased. Number of Affiliated and recognized Institutions got doubled. With this number of students have increased to five fold. The administration initiated to use the IT technology for administration. The exams and file management system of MKCL and now the Integrated University Management Systems are in use.
